Fasten your seat belts

As the cabindoors closed and the fasten seat belt sign flicked on another season of Fashion Days Nuremberg was upon us.

As I landed at Nuremberg airport with thanks to Air Berlin I felt a sense of home and excitement to once again be involved with the production of Fashion Days. The team at Fashion Days are an absolute delight to work for.  Making my way to Sudwest Park Hotel, I had a quick freshen up and it was off to fittings.

Walking into Quartier Q – the new location for Fashion Days AW 2012/13 the lights were being fitted, the chairs delivered, it was just over 24 hours until show time!

Backstage the racks were being set up, the clothes delivered and the shoes unpacked.  As I arrived I was greeted by fellow Fashion Days models, some faces I remembered from previous seasons and others that were new to the Fashion Days family to which I was delighted to make new friends.

Models were whisked in to outfit after outfit, dresses were flying, long limbs to the left and the right and heels from the front to the back of the room.  After 5 hours the line-up was set, a run through complete and a model dinner was underway (a big thanks to Henry for that one).

Show day – a casual sleep in, a light breakfast, a stop to the shops (come on…we are models after all…) it was time to begin the long preparation – or what I like tocall “the waiting game”.  We were taken to Elif Hair and Makeup in Nuremberg to be transformed from everyday women into runway rock stars.

Once every girl had their hair styled and pinned in place, makeup bases on, we made our way to the venue.  Backstage we chilled out and had a quick bite until an hour before show time when the madness began.  Hair pins were taken out, eye makeup was completed and first outfits were adorned by models.

The firstlook was produced by Adam & Eve, other designers in the mix included:
MadhuDesigns
Regina Pelze
U1
Mary Lou

As the boarding gates closes and the guests took their seats, Fashion Days AW 2012/13 was ready for take-off, the evening began with performance by Nick Sinckler and Dj’s mixing hot tunes and filling the venue with sound vibrations that got thewhole place buzzing.

After the final outfit exited the runway and the lights went down, a volume of applause ended what was by far the best Fashion Days yet.
